Jacob Kingsbury Downs is an academic, musician, and broadcaster based in the UK. His research specialisms include contemporary music, sound studies, continental philosophy, music technology, and empirical approaches to the study of music consumption and creation. He is Departmental Lecturer in Music at the University of Oxford, Chair of Faculty in the Faculty of Music, and Organising Tutor at Lady Margaret Hall. Jacob was named as a BBC/AHRC New Generation Thinker in 2024. He is also an active musician and arranger.
